I was looking at your lip balm recipe. It calls for an essential oil of choice. There is a lot of information out about not ingesting most essential oils. Is there a particular food safe oil you use for this recipe?
Hi Liz! I only use Young Living essential oils because they have a strict extraction process with a seed to seal promise for testing and safety. They have a line of oils labeled “Vitality” which means their labeling has specific instructions for using them internally, however all of their oils use the same extraction process and seed to seal promise. So I do not buy specifically the vitality labeled oils as they are all the same. Using the oils internally is safe when using small amounts. They are potent and concentrated so you only need very small amounts. Here is Young Living’s page on Essential Oil Safety.
How many 1/2 oz. containers does this recipe yield?
Hi Laurie,
Are you talking about the lip balm recipe? I usually get about 10 out of it, filling them just about to the top.
Hi there, could I use actual DIY lip balm containers as this would be easier for my kids. Does it set rather firm? Thanks.
Yes it does set pretty firm. There are several different kinds of lip balm containers and I think any would work great with this recipe! 🙂
